I’m not just glueing – I understand what you’re playing with.
Originally a shake-hand player, I switched to penhold and now play with a Reverse Penhold Backhand (RPB) setup using long pips and smooth rubber. So I’m familiar with the full spectrum:
Smooth (inverted) rubber – standard spin rubber, needs careful glueing to preserve topsheet tension
Long pips – tricky to mount without air bubbles, especially with OX (no sponge) sheets
Medium & short pips – different glueing considerations for a consistent feel
Tacky Chinese rubbers – require proper sealing to avoid wood damage
Thick vs thin sponge – correct glue layering matters for soft sponges
If you’re a beginner with a basic setup, or an experienced player experimenting with pips, I’ll treat your bat with the same care.
